Manuel D. Duldulao's 'Contemporary Philippine Art' follows the development of Philippine art from the 1950s to the 70s. The account begins from the immediate postwar years when the Filipino artist was introduced to international currents and expressions of art. Many artists spent periods of work and study abroad, discovering various modes of art and influences which they adopted in their own individual idioms and local creativity. The book presents these developments in a concise manner, introducing the ideas, heroes, builders, prime-movers, critics and defenders, vanguards and explorers of the time.
