A monograph on the life and works of painter Cesar Buenaventura (1922 – 1983) written by Jane Stangl Alvero. The son of the celebrated painter Teodoro Buenaventura, Cesar studied under Fernando Amorsolo and became known for his vibrantly colored paintings of landscapes and people of the Philippines. He often depicted “farmers plowing fields or fisherman coming back from the sea, focusing on quiet scenes of everyday domestic and agrarian life.”
